Directions
Take Interstate
70 East to Exit 46B (Route 51 North).
Follow Route 51 North to the first
traffic light (¼ mile). Not far from the
traffic light, look for the Cedar Creek
Park sign on the right. Turn right, then
left at the next Cedar Creek Park sign.
Continue to follow the signs to the
park.
Overview
Cedar Creek Park
is a 464 acre park located near the
southwestern corner of Westmoreland
County. Picnic pavilions, athletic
fields, and scenic trails make this park
a great summer and fall getaway. Running
along the northern border of the park,
the Youghiogheny River provides a
spectacular view, as well as great
fishing opportunities. The area and
facilities near the bend in the river,
known as Manderino Riverfront Park
offers a boat launch, picnic areas, and
bicycle rentals. There is also a food
concession. |

Cedar Creek Gorge
offers a secluded walking trail through a
ravine cut by Cedar Creek. The ground rises
dramatically on either side of the trail
while you explore the length of a gentle
steam. Cedar Creek Gorge is in the northern
section of the park, near Manderino
Riverfront Park and the concession / rental
facility.
The Youghiogheny River Trail is also
accessible near Cedar Creek Gorge. A
walking, biking, equestrian, and cross
country-skiing trail, the Yoghiogheny River
Trail is part of a regional system of trails
which will eventually link Pittsburgh to
Washington D.C. The trail is handicapped
accessible.

Amphitheater. A
free summer concert series is presented
each summer at Cedar Creek Park’s 2,500
person outdoor amphitheater.
Located near the Youghiogheny River
Trail and Manderino Riverfront Park
along the northern boundary of Cedar
Creek Park, Cedar Creek Station is open
from April through October each year.
Bicycle rentals and food concessions are
available here. Cedar Creek Concession
can be reached at 724-930-7004.
Nineteen pavilions are located
throughout the park, and groups of up to
500 can be accommodated. There are ball
fields and soccer fields, basketball and
volleyball courts, playground equipment,
horseshoe pits, and even toboggan and
sledding areas.
The Mon-Yough Model Airplane Club
operates a radio controlled airfield in
Cedar Creek Park. We’ve heard it said
that you can sometimes see World War II
Hellfires, Spitfires, and Mustangs in
action again.
Portions of the park are open for
hunting.
Rest room
facilities are available throughout the
park.

Mammoth Park
Directions
From Route 30,
take the Greensburg/Mount Pleasant exit
toward Mount Pleasant. Continue past
the University of Pittsburgh and the
Westmoreland County Fair Grounds. Turn
left in United. At the stop sign one
mile past the Mammoth Park sign, turn
right onto Route 981 South. Turn left
at the next Mammoth Park sign. Go 2
miles to the next stop sign, turn left,
and continue on into the park.
Overview
For the fishing
enthusiast, Mammoth Park features a 24
acre fresh water lake stocked with trout
by the Pennsylvania Fish Commission.
Fishing decks are available, some of
which are handicapped accessible.
Mammoth Lake even provides for ice
fishing in winter. |

Perhaps the most
notable feature of Mammoth Park is its 96
foot high giant slide, which has made for
many an unforgettable summer outing for
Westmoreland County youngsters. There is a
scenic overlook deck, featuring a ten mile
panoramic view of the countryside. Mammoth
Park offers 14 pavilions and many
recreational and picnic opportunities.
Facilities
Mammoth Park
features play areas including a
basketball court, two tennis courts, a
street hockey court, two bocce courts,
two shuffleboard courts, and horseshoe
pits. There are even toboggan and
sledding areas. Recreational equipment
such as bocce balls, horseshoes, and
volleyballs are available for rental at
the Park Office.
Two softball/baseball fields and a
soccer field are available by
application for league, tournament, or
pickup play.
The Westmoreland Board Riders Alliance
operates the Mammoth Park Mountain Board
Course in Mammoth Park. You can find our

14 pavilions are
located throughout the park, and can
accommodate groups of up to 200. Mammoth
Park’s World War II Veterans Memorial
can be accessed from the parking area
for Pavilion # 2.
The Laurel Highlands R.C. Airplane Club
operates the Mammoth Park Model Radio
Controlled Airfield. You can visit their

An historic
battery of beehive coke ovens has been
restored and is available for viewing.
Portions of Mammoth Park are open for
hunting, and the lakefront is
periodically closed during the fall to
allow for waterfowl hunting.

Ice skating is possible when Mammoth
Lake is frozen in winter.

Northmoreland Park
Directions
Northmoreland Park serves the
northern communities of Westmoreland
County. The park lies off of Route 356,
south of Vandergrift. From Delmont, take
Route 66 North to the intersection with
Route 356 North (when the road Ys, keep
left on 356). In 3 miles, turn left onto
Park Road at the Northmoreland Park
sign. Follow the signs to the park.
Overview
The largest of Westmoreland County’s
parks, Northmoreland Park covers 548
acres. The 17 acre lake, known as
Northmoreland Lake, provides both
fishing and boating opportunities and is
stocked by the PA Fish Commission with
both warm water fish and trout. A paved
walkway now makes a complete circuit of
the lake.

Northmoreland Park is famous for its BMX
track, which is operated by the
Westmoreland BMX Club. The club operates
May through October, providing races and
practice sessions and serving over 100
youth members. A State Qualifier race is
held each year in July. The Westmoreland

The Boathouse on the north shore of
Northmoreland Lake is open April through
October each year and provides both
rowboat and pedal boat rentals.
Concessions such as sandwiches, snacks,
and hot and cold beverages are
available. Fishermen may purchase bait
here as well. The Activities Center
adjacent to the boathouse is available
for year round rental and includes a
small kitchen, indoor restrooms, and an
air-conditioned meeting room.
Five ball fields, six soccer fields, a
basketball court, horseshoe pits, and a
shuffle board court are available, as
are the A. Dean Orr tennis & racquetball
courts. The addition of several colorful
play areas including sliding boards and
swings make Northmoreland Park a great
getaway for the entire family.
Eleven pavilions are located around
Northmoreland Park, and groups of up to
200 can be accommodated.
The Northmoreland Park R. C. Airplane
Club operates a model radio controlled
airfield at Northmoreland Park.
Northmoreland Park features an Aluminum
Recycling Center, the proceeds of which
go to benefit and fund projects at
Northmoreland Park. The Recycling Center
is close to the park entrance, simply
follow the park signage.

Trail riding lessons and
boarding are available at the Equestrian
Complex, which can be reached at
