Daffodil Days

My heartfelt thanks goes out to everyone who participated in the 2008 American Cancer Society Daffodil Days Campaign from March 24-30, and helped spring bloom in Westmoreland County. As the first flower of spring, the daffodil symbolizes hope and rebirth, and through its Daffodil Days program and your support, the American Cancer Society is able to bring that hope to everyone affected by cancer.

I would like to thank all of those who supported this year's Daffodil Days by purchasing flowers for their homes and/or offices, as well as those who donated flowers to area hospitals and care facilities. This year, more than 10,000 daffodils, 650 vases, and 850 Boyds™ Bears were given in exchange for donations, raising $88,000.

Spring arrived in Westmoreland County because of you!

Sincerely,

Arlene Seliy, 2008 Daffodil Days Chairperson, Westmoreland Unit

How can you help?

Come and have fun!  Every game, event, and purchase made at the Relay for Life benefits cancer survivors.

Form a team to walk during the event and raise money through contributions to support the relay.

In 2007
Norwin's 3rd Annual Relay for Life took place at the Norwin High School stadium July 21 and 22nd.

Volunteers and teams are needed to help the American Cancer Society raise money for the fight against cancer, as well as raise cancer awareness in Westmoreland County. Anyone interested in volunteering to help, or who would like to become a team captain, is encouraged to participate. Your involvement with Relay For Life supports lifesaving American Cancer Society programs and services.

Up to 15 people on each team receive a Relay For Life T-Shirt and can win incentive prizes for raising certain levels of money.

At dusk on Saturday, the event stops for a special Luminary Service featuring bagged votives purchased in honor of someone that has conquered, is fighting, or has lost their battle with cancer. These votives burn throughout the night as an inspiration to all the participants.
