Aroma Italiano
Aroma Italiano Serving Up Fresh, Homemade
Italian Food
by
Karen Fetter
Nothing compares to the
taste of homemade, fresh food - especially those
recipes that come from a long line of family
traditions. Westmoreland County residents don’t
have to look any further than Aroma Italiano
located at 2220 Ligonier Street in Latrobe, PA.
This family-owned business offers Italian
culture and hospitality with every visit.
Owner Carlo Garbeglio gives his mother all the
credit for helping create and make the menu
items. Originally from the town of Fossalto,
Italy, Antoinette Garbeglio and husband Andrew
offer what has been passed down from generations
to create recipes such as lasagna, spaghetti,
rigatoni, and Italian Roast Beef.
The name Aroma Italiano means “Scent of Italy.”
They thought the name was appropriate because of
all the smells that are present immediately upon
opening the door. Each month there are daily
specials along with everyday menu items
including sandwiches, soups, and salads.

“All of our food
including bread, soup, and meals are made fresh
every day. It’s hard to find a restaurant like
that anymore,” said Carlo. “I also personally
greet everyone that enters. We have our regulars
that we get to know well, but I always love to
see new people.”
Aroma Italiano first opened for business in
February of 2003. The dynamic of the restaurant
has changed considerably since the first few
months.
“I remember I was selling food straight from
catering servers right in the front room. But
soon we found out that people wanted to dine
inside. We immediately thought of expanding,”
said Carlo.
Currently, Aroma Italiano has a walk–in area
where customers can place their orders. There is
also a large sit-down and banquet area.
“I always wanted to open my own restaurant. I
loved my mother’s food and thought we could
really start a great business,” said Carlo.
Within four months of finding the building,
Aroma Italiano was ready for business. Carlo
completed all of the construction and design by
himself.
In addition to the restaurant, Aroma Italiano
also offers catering services for all occasions.
Feature dinner items are lasagna, cannelloni,
gnocchi, spaghetti, rigatoni, chicken, roast
beef sandwiches, hot sausage sandwiches,
meatballs, and ham barbeque. Feature side items
include pasta salad, vegetable salad, macaroni
salad, potato salad, fruit salad, vegetable
medley, green bean almondeen, baked beans,
