Great Towns
Murrysville - A Great Town in Westmoreland County,
PA
Murrysville is one
town in Westmoreland County that is always on
the cusp of change. The beautiful suburban area
is located along Route 22 – one of the main
transportation arteries in western Pennsylvania.
New development along Route 22 is a big reason
that Murrysville remains on the fast track.
Murrysville is located approximately 20 miles
east of Pittsburgh, PA....
Derry - A Great Town in Westmoreland County,
PA
Like many areas in
Westmoreland County, the Greater Derry Area
developed from the railroad and the coalmining
industry. However, it was first known for
agriculture and still maintains that reputation
today. The Greater Derry Area consists of Derry
Borough and Derry Township with a population of
nearly 19,000 combined.
Lower Burrell - A Great Town in Westmoreland County,
PA
A saying proudly
displayed on t-shirts worn by residents of Lower
Burrell is, “This is one great city.” That alone
should attract attention to this town with a
population of over 12,000. According to Lower
Burrell Mayor Donald Kinosz, the reason he loves
his town is because of the high quality of life
that its residents enjoy. With its beautiful
scenery, low cost of living, easy access to
downtown Pittsburgh, services, and excellent
schools, there is no reason to dispute it.
West Newton - A Great Town in Westmoreland County,
PA
As times change,
many towns need a new burst of energy to renew
themselves and make hometown life appealing to
both residents and visitors. Fortunately, West
Newton is getting that chance. Located in a
valley next to the Youghiogheny River in
Westmoreland County, West Newton is about to
undergo an amazing restoration.
Monessen - A Great Town in Westmoreland County,
PA
When people hear
about the town of Monessen they immediately
begin to think about the “famous” people that
once lived there. Its reputation, especially
with sports, is one that is hard to miss. But
what really made Monessen a booming town in the
early 1900s was the steel industry.
A Wonderful
Weekend in Westmoreland County,
PA
n May 2006, the
owners of InWestmoreland.com, Jane and Scot,
celebrated their 8th wedding anniversary. While
the continuing success of our business afforded
us little time to “get-away,” we determined to
make the most of one entire weekend. And it was
wonderful!
Mount Pleasant - A Great Town in Westmoreland County,
PA
"While
traveling through Westmoreland County, one
pleasant surprise awaiting visitors is the
borough of Mount Pleasant. With a population of
about 5,000, Mount Pleasant is located in the
foothills of the Laurel Highlands and has a lot
to offer to residents and visitors alike.. "
Scottdale - A Great Town in Westmoreland County,
PA
"Scottdale gives
meaning to the words “small town charm.” Only
1.2 square miles in area, Scottdale has a
population of fewer than 5,000. It is very rare
that you can find a picture-perfect town that
still thrives with dining and shopping, but that
is not all Scottdale has to offer..."
Arnold - A

Irwin - A Great Town in Westmoreland County,
PA
"While Irwin
Borough is mainly residential, it still has an
active business district. Located near the
Pennsylvania Turnpike and Route 30, many
businesses line the roads both on the outskirts
and in downtown Irwin. People can enjoy commerce
while also having the feeling of suburbia."
Jeannette - A Great Town in Westmoreland County,
PA
"In the center
of Westmoreland County lies the City of
Jeannette. Made famous as the “Glass City,” at
one time Jeannette produced more glass in more
forms than any other city in the United States.
Today Jeannette has a rich history, as well as
key industrial and healthcare employers, such as
the Elliot Company and Mercy Jeannette
Hospital."

beautiful Laurel Highlands, is the City of
Greensburg. Greensburg is a major hub of
business and commerce in Westmoreland County.

many community and cultural institutions to
offer as well as significant educational
facilities."
Latrobe - A Great Town in Westmoreland County,
PA
"The City of
Latrobe is a town filled with the pride of its
residents. Located in the foothills of the
Laurel Mountains between Greensburg and
Ligonier, this city offers both a small town
feel and the benefits of an urban area. Many
long-time residents have shown great civic
pride, which makes the area such a friendly and
safe place to live.”

PA
"Ligonier,
