Christmas in Salem Crossroads
The “Pilgrimage”

Step back in time and experience the spiritual joy of Christmas with an inspirational walking pilgrimage in Delmont, PA

Delmont’s 35th Annual “Pilgrimage” takes place Saturday and Sunday December 1st & 2nd, and December 8 and 9, 2007. This outdoor, walking journey begins at 6:00 pm at the famous Log House on the Shields Farm in Delmont, PA and lasts until 9:00 pm. As you travel the road to “Bethlehem,” pathway guides lead you past live vignettes depicting scenes from the first Christmas: the Prophecy, the Annunciation, Joseph’s Dream, Caesar’s Decree, Mary and Joseph’s Journey to Bethlehem, the Holy Ghost appearing to the Shepherds in the field, the Three Wise Men, and the Nativity. Plan to bring your children and loved ones to share this traditional pilgrimage and renew the true meaning of Christmas.

As the event does take place out of doors, please dress warmly.

Adult tickets are priced at $5.00, and tickets for children under 12 cost $2.00. A deposit is required for groups of 25 or more. Reservations are required. Tickets may be purchased by calling 724-468-4003, Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Tickets are marked with reservation times, and ticket holders should plan to board the shuttle buses at least 30 minutes prior to the time shown on the ticket. All ticket holders are encouraged to be at the log house (the start of the pilgrimage) by 6:00 pm in order to visit all of the churches and other sights, as well as complete the pilgrimage. Proceeds from ticket sales are divided and donated to our Delmont Community organizations and the youth groups from participating churches.

Each evening a number complementary activities are provided by The Delmont community churches, and a variety of foods and beverages are for sale. Typical events include an international tree display, Civil War era church services, Christmas carolers, sing-alongs, and live entertainment.

Parking is available in St. John’s Church (primary lot), Faith United Methodist Church (tour buses may park here), Delmont Presbyterian Church, and at the Delmont Alliance Church. Note: during the event, East Pittsburgh Street in Delmont is closed to vehicular traffic.
