Pizza & Gyro Express, The Family Restaurant
Excellent food at a moderate price, in a
great family atmosphere!
The best family
restaurants offer three things: great food at an
affordable price, a clean environment, and good
service. Pizza & Gyro Express meets these
requirements and more. In our opinion, the best
thing about Westmoreland County’s independent
restaurants is their personalized menus, and
Pizza & Gyro Express, located at 11232 McKee
Road in North Huntingdon, is no exception. Here,
recipes offer a bit of Southwestern
Pennsylvania’s finest, from hoagies and pizzas
to gyros, pasta dinners, salads, soups, and
more.
The menu at Pizza & Gyro Express is impressive,
listing well over 100 items. Even the most
finicky of children are bound to find a
favorite, and the hearty servings will not
disappoint Mom & Dad. Start with an appetizer
like the Hot Pepper Cheese Balls or their
scrumptious finger foods, from Cheesy Pepperoni
Bread to the Chicken Kabob Platter. Then you may
be tempted by the Ribeye steak, grilled onions,
mushrooms, and special house dressing that are
just a part of the Western Steak Hoagie. Wedgies
and Calzones, Salads and Strombolis: the
varieties are sure to satisfy everyone’s taste.
While this InWestmoreland writer is partial to
Gyros, we heard from the manager of Pizza & Gyro
Express, Kathy Filotei, that she is a personal
fan of their gourmet pizzas. “For those who like
it hot, we have a specialty called “Hell of a
Hot Pizza,” featuring hot sausage, pepperoni,
cappicola, hot peppers, and our hottest pizza
sauce. With 18 gourmet pizzas, you’re sure to
fall in love with something: BBQ Chicken, Mighty
Meat, White Steak Ricotta. You have to come in
to experience them.” All pizzas come in three
sizes: six, eight, and twelve cut.
Monday through Saturday there is a lunch buffet
(including fountain drink) for $4.99 from 11:00
am to 2:00 pm. Monday nights from 5:00 pm to
9:00 pm you can enjoy a dinner buffet (also
including drink), for only $7.99. Every Tuesday
there is an all you can eat spaghetti special
for $2.99, which includes a small tossed salad
and dinner rolls. Wednesday is all you can eat
wings for $5.49.
The portions are great, the prices are focused
for family fun, and with its new liquor license,
Pizza & Gyro Express can now offers beer and
wine for Mom & Dad, and also has six packs
available for take out. For the best deals, look

Pizza & Gyro Express is a family affair, with
the first restaurant opened in McKeesport by
owner Adam Lucas. Today the success of the first
Pizza & Gyro Express continues, with Adam’s
brother Gordon contributing as a manager at the
North Huntingdon location. Their plans to expand
offerings to the public are not yet over. In
fact, on November 1st, 2003, Pizza & Gyro
Express began a catering service.
“We don’t yet offer delivery or set up,” Kathy
Filotei explained, “but we have great deals on
trays of baked chicken, lasagna, ham barbeque,
and much more. With 24 hours notice, we can
supply great food for your party or special
event, everything from chicken and pasta, to
salads and hot sausage. Give us a call and we
will be glad to send you our catering menu.”
Pizza & Gyro Express also offers both take out
and delivery (within 10 miles). Whether you dine
in, pick up some great snacks, or have one of
their gourmet pizzas brought to your door, we’re
sure you’ll become a fan of Pizza & Gyro
Express, The Family Restaurant in North
Huntingdon.
