Saint Vincent Theatre
Saint Vincent Theatre Celebrated its 36th
Season in 2004
with Three Outstanding Productions
Saint Vincent Theatre is
famous for its top-flight performances, as well
as the after show cabaret parties to which all
patrons are invited.
2004's performances were among the Theatre’s best and represented the
College’s 36th season of professional theater.
Produced by Fr. Thomas W. Devereux and directed
by Joseph Reilly, 2004’s schedule includes Fully
Committed (June 3-26), The Foreigner (July 1-
24th), and Pools Paradise (July 29 – August
22nd).
The newly remodeled Carey Performing Arts Center
features the best in stadium seating, with great
views from every seat in the house, and the new
facility is fully handicapped accessible.
“Each year we read a lot of plays,” director
Reilly explained, “and knowing our audience, we
choose the best of those that are worth doing
and will be sure to please.”
Fully Committed, by Becky Mode, follows a day in
the life of an unemployed actor. Sam Peliczowski
mans the reservation desk for a trendy Manhattan
restaurant, where he deals with coercion,
threats, and bribes, not to his mention
egomaniacal boss. This hilarious play, which
gallops along at a frantic pace, features over
45 characters – all played by a single,
remarkably talented actor: Jarrod DiGiorgi.
You’ll find it touching as well as funny.
The Foreigner, by Larry Shue, is a true classic
comedy, one that has already seen two previous
productions at Saint Vincent Theatre. “This
piece will have performances 100 years from
now,” insisted Joseph Reilly. The tale concerns
a shy Englishman named Charlie, a munitions
expert on vacation in a rural fishing lodge in
Georgia. His wife has left him. Painfully shy
and depressed, Charlie feigns ignorance of the
English language in order to be left alone, but
peaceful rest is the last thing his “white lie”
achieves. Critics have said The Foreigner is “an
invitation to relax and laugh at the foolishness
of life.”
Pool’s Paradise, by Phillip King, is set in a
small British village not unlike one conjured up
by an Agatha Christie mystery. Characters
include a Vicar, his wife, and their friends.
Fantastic complications begin when the Reverend
Toop’s wife dabbles in a football pool and finds
that she may have won exceedingly big. A
delightful farce populated by truly zany
characters, Pool’s Paradise is a true
demonstration of saving the best for last.
Reservations are required for all shows expect
Thursday evening previews. Prices range from
$7.50 for preview performances to $18.00 on
Fridays and Saturdays. Tuesday, Wednesday, and
Thursday evenings are $16.50. Senior citizen and
group discounts are available, as are special
subscription plans until June 26th.
Come and enjoy the plays, and the fun of the
cabaret after the show!
