CleanWays of Westmoreland
County recently announced
that program director Ellen
C. Keefe was recognized by
the Professional Recyclers
of Pennsylvania (PROP) for
having earned the status of
Certified Recycling
Professional. As
Westmoreland County’s
recycling coordinator, Ellen
works with municipalities,
businesses, and residents to
establish and enhance
recycling resources and
opportunities.
The Recycling Professional
Certification program was
designed by PROP and Penn
State-Altoona to promote
high professional standards
for recycling and solid
waste managers in both the
public and private sector.
Coursework covers an array
of recycling categories, as
well as specialty courses in
Organics, Program
Administration, Processing,
and Education.
Three staff members of PA
CleanWays, Inc., parent
organization of the
Westmoreland County chapter,
were also awarded Certified
Recycling Professional
certificates: Susan B.
Snyder, Shawn P. Wigle, and
Gerald P. Zona.
PA CleanWays, Inc. is a
volunteer-based non-profit
organization founded in
Westmoreland County to fight
illegal dumping and
littering. In addition to
the Westmoreland County
chapter, chapters in 21
additional counties now
serve state citizens,
empowering them to combat
illegal dumping and helping
to make Pennsylvania a
beautiful place to live.
