PA CleanWays Staff Receive Professional Certification

CleanWays of Westmoreland County recently announced that program director Ellen C. Keefe was recognized by the Professional Recyclers of Pennsylvania (PROP) for having earned the status of Certified Recycling Professional. As Westmoreland County’s recycling coordinator, Ellen works with municipalities, businesses, and residents to establish and enhance recycling resources and opportunities.

The Recycling Professional Certification program was designed by PROP and Penn State-Altoona to promote high professional standards for recycling and solid waste managers in both the public and private sector. Coursework covers an array of recycling categories, as well as specialty courses in Organics, Program Administration, Processing, and Education.

Three staff members of PA CleanWays, Inc., parent organization of the Westmoreland County chapter, were also awarded Certified Recycling Professional certificates: Susan B. Snyder, Shawn P. Wigle, and Gerald P. Zona.

PA CleanWays, Inc. is a volunteer-based non-profit organization founded in Westmoreland County to fight illegal dumping and littering. In addition to the Westmoreland County chapter, chapters in 21 additional counties now serve state citizens, empowering them to combat illegal dumping and helping to make Pennsylvania a beautiful place to live.
