As we successfully juggle
successful careers and
family, we can always use
some tips and especially
some humor. Here are some of
my favorite books on the
subject of balance.
Last holiday season I read
two books from local
authors, and I highly
recommend them. Carol Briney,
a local speaker, trainer,
and organizing consultant
wrote A Guide to Organized
and Stress Free Holidays, I
read this last year right
after Christmas and got a
lot of helpful tips that I
plan to incorporate this
season. This can be ordered
online at
www.universalor.com.
Two women from the North
Hills, Mary Jo Rulnick and
Judith Burnett-Schneider
have co-authored The Frantic
Woman’s Guide to Life which
has some of the best tips I
have ever come across with a
years worth of hints, tips
and tricks to sanity while
trying to balance it all.
The book is available at
Borders.
Cindy Glovinsky has written
two great books, Making
Peace With The Things in
Your Life, and 100 Simple
Ways to Live Clutter-Free
Every Day. They are both in
paperback and available at
most bookstores locally.
If you are like me and like
to laugh about how you are
so busy that you forget
where you are going most of
the time, try reading I've
Found my Keys, now Where's
my Car? by Florence Littauer.
She is one of my favorite
authors. I have read many of
her books and enjoy them on
cd as well. You can find her
books on her website,
www.classservices.com or
on
www.amazon.com. She also
has written some great books
on family issues, like Get a
Life Without the Strife and
After Every Wedding Comes a
Marriage. If you suffer with
the blues and/or depression,
she wrote Blow away the
Black Clouds, but my
favorite of all of her books
is Silver Boxes. This story
is about our words and how
we can use them to build
people up or tear them down.
I have it on tape and give
it as a gift to all of the
Incredible Mom winners.
Another writer you will love
is Karen Scalf Linamen. You
can find books by Karen at
your Christian bookstore, or
on
www.amazon.com. I have
read and laughed my way
through three of her books.
Just Hand Over the Chocolate
and No One Will Get Hurt,
Sometimes I Wake Up Grumpy
and Sometimes I Let Him
Sleep, Welcome to the Funny
Farm: The All-True
Misadventures of a Woman on
the Edge. I just did a
search for her on Amazon and
found she has a new one; I'm
Not Suffering from
Insanity...I'm Enjoying
Every Minute of It!
I just ordered it, I’ll let
you know!
Beth Caldwell is the mom of
two teenage sons, the

Kids’ Directory, and works
as a mentor for women
