Ground Broken On First Stand-Alone Chick-fil-A Restaurant in Greensburg

Chick-fil-A, Inc. has started construction on its first stand-alone Chick-fil-A restaurant in Greensburg which is projected to open in January 2007.

The new stand-alone Chick-fil-A restaurant, located at 5156 Rt. 30, Eastgate Plaza, is expected to generate approximately 65 new jobs.
Chick-fil-A, Inc. has continued its unprecedented 38-year run of consecutive sales gains since it started in 1967. The company reported 2005 system-wide sales of more than 1.975 billion, resulting in a 13.1 percent increase over 2004 figures and a positive 5.87 percent same-store sales performance.

Chick-fil-A founder Truett Cathy is marking several other milestones this year, including the 60th year anniversary of the opening of his first restaurant, the Dwarf Grill in Hapeville, Ga., from which the Chick-fil-A chain was launched, and the 20th anniversary of its first stand-alone restaurant which opened in 1986. Also, the third generation has entered the Chick-fil-A business with Cathy’s grandson becoming a restaurant operator in St. Petersburg, FL in January.

Credited with inventing the original boneless breast of chicken sandwich and introducing the chicken nugget concept, Chick-fil-A serves nutritious and freshly prepared food products in malls, stand-alone units, Chick-fil-A Dwarf House® and Truett’s Grill® full-service restaurants, and through licensed outlets on college campuses and in hospitals, airports, and other locations.

Chick-fil-A is the nation’s second-largest quick-service chicken restaurant chain with more than 1,268 restaurants in 37 states and Washington D.C. The chain expects to add more than 72 locations in 2007, including 61 stand-alone restaurants. For more information, visit www.chick-fil-a.com or www.chick-fil-apressroom.com
