Whether you’re driving to
the beach, the mountains, or
a relative’s home in another
city, these tips can help
you get everything you need
into your suitcases.
List all the places you
expect to go and the
activities you’ll
participate in during each
day of your vacation. Then
make a list of all the
clothes, toiletries, and
other miscellaneous items
you’ll need.
Using your list, lay out the
clothes for each day on your
bed. Then gather your
toiletries, medications, and
accessories such as digital
cameras and phone chargers.
-
Pack socks and belts
inside each pair of
shoes, put the shoes in
a plastic bag, and
arrange them along the
sides of the suitcase.
-
Put each outfit in a
commercially available
travel bag that
squeezes air out as you
roll it up.
-
Roll thin or
lightweight clothes to
reduce wrinkling and to
fill in small spaces.
-
Pack toiletries by
category (first aid,
teeth, skin, hair, etc.)
in
sealable plastic bags to
protect against leaks.
Place these in
the center of the
suitcase surrounded by
the clothes.
-
Store accessories and
cords in pouches or
zippered pockets
of the suitcase.
And
don’t forget about the kids
on your road trip. Help each
child fill his or her
backpack with car-friendly
toys, books, and DVDs for
the long drive. Happy
traveling!
