High Over Westmoreland County
It's Fun Fun Fun!

The first of the modern hot-air balloons flew in 1960 and since then there has been a remarkable comeback of hot-air (lighter-than-air) activity. This has largely been brought about by combining two technologies; lightweight, airtight nylon fabrics and new powerful heating systems that burn liquid propane to heat the balloons. Worldwide, colorful balloons now dot the sky. There are sports balloons for recreation, passenger balloons that provide a bird’s-eye view of the countryside, balloons that carry corporate logos, and skillfully engineered special shaped balloons.

Western Pennsylvania is well known around the world for having one of the most breathtaking landscapes. A stunning 360º scenic view is possible from the aerial vantage point that a hot air balloon flight provides. Ragge & Willow, USA, located in Bovard, PA (just two minutes from Westmoreland Mall) offers a wide range of hot air balloons and services including flights and pilot training.

Passenger flights in Western Pennsylvania concentrate around the months of April/May and throughout November. Although most flights are made during the summer, crisp winter days can offer some of the best flying. Ballooning is a year round activity.

Balloons require stable weather conditions for flying and in particular calm, light winds and good visibility. Therefore, ballooning is generally best at sunrise or sunset when the winds tend to be lighter.

The corporate pilots are internationally experienced FAA & CAA licensed and the decision whether to fly or not has to be made by the pilot in command. Passenger safety and comfort is the most important consideration. So if, at the last minute the pilot decides not to fly, it is in your best interest. In the event that a flight is rescheduled due to inclement weather, Ragge & Willow will make arrangements for another
date and continue to do so until your flight is completed.

This is FUN FOR EVERYONE! Passengers’ friends and relatives are welcome to join in the fun and follow the balloons in their own vehicles.
The flight lasts for about 60-90 minutes but passengers are asked to allow approximately four to five hours for the entire experience.

After the flight, to celebrate the experience, there is the traditional champagne toast and passengers receive first flight diplomas suitable for framing.

Hot air ballooning is an exciting adventure and can make an ideal surprise present. Contact Ragge & Willow at 724-836-4777 to schedule your experience of a lifetime.
