Annually, the Pennsylvania
Juvenile Court Judges’
Commission awards
recognition to various Court
staff and programs
throughout the Commonwealth.
This year the Westmoreland
County Juvenile Court’s
Probation Department
received 5 of the 7 awards
that were distributed.
Chief Probation Officer
Adeline Beighley is being
honored as Chief Juvenile
Probation Officer of the
Year in recognition for her
dedication to the youth in
Westmoreland County
including her commitment to
spearheading her
department’s efforts in
carrying out Pennsylvania’s
Balanced and Restorative
Justice (BARJ) Mission.
Probation Officer II Deborah
Slates-Ciocco is being
honored as Juvenile
Probation Officer of the
Year in recognition of her
work with the Post-
Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Program and curriculum, for
which she is a certified
national trainer, and has
introduced the program into
the Greensburg Salem School
District for youth both on
probation and housed at the
county’s detention facility.
Juvenile Probation Officer
Aide Marjorie Bing Stanislaw
is being honored as Court
Support Staff of the Year
for her facilitation of the
Jeannette Community Justice
Project and her work as the
BARJ Team Community & Media
Relations Chairperson.
Pearl Snyder, a Vandergrift
resident, is being awarded
the Meritorious Service
Award in recognition for her
37 years as a volunteer to
the Westmoreland County
Juvenile Court’s Youth
Commission Program. Pearl
serves as the Chair of the
Kiski Area Youth Commission.
The Probation Department’s
PTSD Program was also
recognized as the Court
Operated Program of the Year
for its innovative
strategies in promoting
early intervention for
children with post traumatic
stress disorder.
Westmoreland County has been
chosen as Pennsylvania’s
first juvenile probation
demonstration site.
