Family Nurse Midwife
Associates, associated with
Mercy Jeannette Hospital,
are excited to announce a
new addition to our list of
Pregnancy Classes.
This new class is entitled
"Becoming a Mom" and is
appropriate for those 8-28
weeks and is a great
pre-requisite to our
Childbirth Crash Course.
Instructor will be Jan
Mallak, Birth Doula and
owner of Hearts and Hands
Doula Service.
The first class will discuss
discomforts during
pregnancy, fetal
development, warning signs,
good heatlh including diet
and exercise, body
mechanics, Kegel and pelvic
rock demos and weight gain.
A nutriional snack will be
served. The second class
will discuss including
family, partner, siblings
and extended family in the
prenatal and birth process,
How to develop a birth
vision, relaxation
techniques and the benefits
of including alternate other
support systems such as
doulas, chiropractic,
massage, yoga and other
support groups.
A list of recommended
reading will be provided. A
nutritious snack will be
served and a display of
books will be available.
Cost of the classes is 20.00
each with the option of
attending one or both
depending on your own
personal needs.
Classes will run from 7-9PM
and will be held at the
Midwife Office at Mercy
Jeannette. Dates will be
February 02 & 09 and April
19-26 and will run from 7-9
