gamble. SCORE (Service Core
of Retired Executives
Association) can help take
some of the mystery out of
taking control of your
career by starting and
growing your own growing
your own business.
Located at Saint Vincent
College in Latrobe,
Westmoreland SCORE Chapter
555 consists of 40 seasoned
business executives
dedicated to the formation,
growth and success of small
businesses in Westmoreland
and Indiana Counties. Having
diversified backgrounds in
the fields of marketing,
production, sales,
purchasing, engineering,
research, law, medicine,
accounting and finance, they
volunteer their time and
considerable business
expertise to help coach the
next generation of
entrepreneurs. SCORE
provides two principal
services:
Business mentoring and
counseling by SCORE
volunteer counselors is
totally free and completely
confidential. A counselor
will assist you whose skills
and experience most closely
match your particular needs.
When appropriate, more than
one counselor participates,
in a process called team
counseling. Counseling is
normally done face-to-face,
but may also be done via
E-Mail or by telephone.
Workshops for entrepreneurs
starting their own
businesses are presented six
times each year by a team
consisting of SCORE business
counselors and professional
experts such as lawyers,
bankers, insurance agents
and Certified Public
Accountants. Each workshop
lasts approximately four
hours and covers the
following topics: Business
Planning; Cash Flow
Analysis; Marketing; Choice
of Business Structure;
Business Insurance; Business
Financing; Market Research;
and discussion of common
problems affecting new
businesses.
