Stop puppy from pulling,
biting, chewing, and
jumping. Enroll your puppy
in positive reinforcement
program with a professional
trainer or a well
established club, ask for
references.
Do be:
1. FAIR. Ask for small
steps. Avoid pushing your
dog beyond his limit and
yours. Praise for obedient
behavior.
2. FIRM. Your voice must
speak with authority and
calmness. Be in charge but
not gruff.
3. FAST. If a correction is
needed make it quick and on
the spot, two seconds after
the fact is too late.
4. FORGIVING. Ask for a good
behavior, verbally reward
“YES, Good Boy” and move
quickly to the next
exercise.
5. FUN. Create a game. Avoid
dwelling on an exercise the
dog is not ready to
accomplish.
6. CONSISTENT. All family
members must use the same
verbal or hand commands.
7. Use REWARDS. Verbal,
treats, toys. Use little
treats for something he
knows well, tastier treats
for a new behavior.
8. Use REPITITION. One thing
at a time repeated 3-5 times
in a row, 3-4 times through
out the day. Dogs learn
faster by repeated behavior
that is fun.
