Dix is a friendly golden retriever that has been trained as an assistance dog by young people at a juvenile facility in Santa Rosa, California.

Laurel explained “Dix helps ease my pain, and she helps me to do some of the things I used to do before the injury. I needed something soft and warm to rest my arm on, and I needed help carrying things. One day I was in the shower when the idea hit me: How about a dog? My world has become considerably easier and more fulfilling since Dixon has come into my life.”

It was this unexpected meeting that made me more aware of how much our furry friends can provide us with help and comfort.
