Programs once again this
year. A variety of day camps
for children and single day
programs for the entire
family have been designed to
cover a myriad of topics!
Come experience the fun and
get closer to nature in
Westmoreland’s largest
outdoor classrooms - our
County Parks!

Program offerings are as
follows:
“SURVIVOR” Camp
Ages 12-14 * $90 * 10am to
3pm
Compete with your tribe for
rewards and immunity from
tasks in a five-day Survivor
wilderness challenge! Learn
skills such as extreme
survival, orienteering,
first aid, water
purification, and
participate in many other
puzzles and games. June
13-17 Twin Lakes Park. July
25-29 Northmoreland Park
“WILD THINGS” Camp
Ages 7-11 * $55 * 10am to
3pm
Experience plants and
animals by encountering them
in their natural
environments. Design a
habitat for a fictional
animal, create field guides,
and meet animal experts and
their “pets.” July 5-7 Cedar
Creek Park.
August 1-3 Northmoreland
Park . August 8-10 Twin
Lakes Park.
“WATER INVESTIGATION”
Camp
Ages 10-12 * $55 * 12pm to
4pm
Ever wonder what’s lurking
in your local pond, lake, or
stream? Investigate the
answer at Twin Lakes with
activities such as visiting
the Monastery Run wetlands,
learning the water cycle,
and examining the little
critters that call the water
home. June 20-22 Twin Lakes
Park (and Monastery Run
Wetlands).
“CSI: TWIN LAKES” Camp
Ages 12-14 * $55 * 10am to
3pm
Unravel the mystery at “CSI:
Twin Lakes.” Investigate
techniques such as DNA
fingerprinting, handwriting
analysis, and using dogs to
solve crimes. Participants
will also analyze a mock
crime scene.

“PEEWEE PLANTS & ANIMALS”
Ages 5-6 * $45
Spark an interest in nature
by involving your 5-6 yr.
olds in this workshop
devoted to environmental
activities. Kids will
explore an animal exhibit,
create art projects, and
play games. June 28-30

“TWIN LAKES SLEEPOVER
ADVENTURE”

Ever wonder what happens in
nature while you're
sleeping? Come and find out!
Take a night walk, play
games, stargaze, and build a
campfire on this overnight
experience. Bring your own
sleeping bag and pillow.

“TREASURE HUNT”
Any Ages * No Fee * 1pm to

Spend some time outdoors
competing in a scavenger
hunt with your family and

Latrobe Senior High School

“JEWELS OF CEDAR CREEK”
Any Ages * $3/individual,

Examine local Native
American artifacts and
discover the geological
rarity of an outdoor
stalactite while taking in
the beauty of Cedar Creek
Gorge. Experts give
testimony and answer
questions about these hidden
“jewels” of the park. June

“MYSTERIES OF SCIENCE”

12noon to 4pm
How do airplanes fly and
boats float? Why do you see
yourself upside down in a
spoon? Find the answer to
these questions and more.
Visit different interactive
stations where you can build
things such as roller
coasters and electrical
circuits. Fun learning
experiences for the whole

“NIGHT WALK”
Any Ages * No Fee * 8pm to
10pm
What comes alive when the
sun goes down? Take a walk
through Twin Lakes Park to
see and hear the wildlife
either starting their
night's adventure or just
settling down to sleep.
Small group leaders will
help interpret the sounds
and sights of the night.

“WILDFLOWER WALK”
Any Ages * No Fee * 1pm to
3pm
Did you know that some of
the most spectacular
wildflowers in this area are
in Cedar Creek Park? Join a
wildflower expert on a hike
through the stunning gorge.
Enjoy the peaceful gurgle of
Cedar Creek while taking in
the beauty of the landscape.

“FAMILY OVERNIGHT CAMP”
Any Ages * $5/person * 6pm
to 11am
Investigate all of the
wonders of Cedar Creek in
one overnight stay. Visit
the rare geological sites,
see the wildflowers,
stargaze, and participate in
lots of games and
activities. Experience
traditional camping by
staying in a tent and
joining the campfire. All
children under the age of 16
must be accompanied by an
adult. You are responsible
for your own tent and
camping gear. July 8-9 Cedar
Creek Park.
