Whispering Winds Stables and Retreat
It’s all about balance!

Nestled in a peaceful, scenic corner of the Laurel Mountain foothills is Whispering Winds Stables and Retreat, a unique combination of bed and breakfast retreat and Rocky Mountain Horse stable.

Whispering Winds Stables and Retreat is meant to be a peaceful place where guests can benefit from therapeutic relaxation, spiritual growth, and healing.

Owners, Clair and Bob Kemp, take a preventive maintenance stance toward therapy of the body, mind, and spirit. Services at Whispering Winds Stables and Retreat are designed to create long lasting balance. The Kemps explain, “Educational and experiential workshops in conjunction with a focus on the arts promote spiritual growth. These help promote responsibility and tolerance, while enhancing communication. Nature provides a calming ambiance, speaking instinctively to the spirit and the Rocky Mountain Horses compliment the experience.”

The entire main house is reserved for guests to relax and enjoy. Guests can choose to wander around the scenic grounds, curl up with a book from the library, slip into the hot tub, or watch the stars before retiring for the night. During the day, riding lessons are available or one can walk the labyrinth and enjoy the meditation center.

The Chartres Model Labyrinth at Whispering Winds Stables and Resort is 70 feet in diameter. The labyrinth is a meditation tool, consisting of a Unicursal walking path leading to the center and back out again. Labyrinths have been used by many cultures for thousands of years. The most well known labyrinth is located at Notre Dame de Chartres Cathedral in Chartres, France. Sister Marian Senish of Transfiguration House, Sisters of Divine Providence in Butler, Pennsylvania donated her time in overseeing the labyrinth installation.
