Career Education Partnership Receives Grant
Recently, the Westmoreland-Fayette Workforce Investment
Board (WIB) received a grant from the Pennsylvania
Department of Labor to fund a Career Education Partnership
project. Managed by the Private Industry Council of
Westmoreland/Fayette, Inc. (PIC), the project will support
and extend Pennsylvanias high school reform and career
preparation strategies in Westmoreland and Fayette Counties.
The project will connect and coordinate existing programs to
enable youth to achieve high academic standards, prepare for
careers, and gain access to work-based learning experiences.
The name Career Horizons was chosen for the partnership
to reflect the bright future that lies just on the horizon
for this areas current and future workforce. We believe
this partnership can help light the pathway for our youth to
explore and design their futures full potential. Linda
Hammers was hired to coordinate the Partnership and is
actively pursuing new partners for this exciting, worthwhile
project.
