Going Places
Parents, are your children going on field trips and outings while at
child care? These can be educational and fun for kids. Be sure your child's
caregiver plans well and follows safety guidelines for each trip.
- Find out if the caregiver visits places prior to
outings to check for safety features.
- Make sure the trip is right for your child. Keep in
mind that children under age four do better on shorter
trips and in the morning.
- Be sure there are enough adults to supervise the
children. Volunteer to go along when possible.
- You need information about every trip and must sign
a permission slip.
- Talk with your child ahead of time about where they
are going and what they will see on the field trip. Go
over basic safety rules.
- Be sure you know what is involved for each trip. If
you do not feel it is right for your child, make
alternate plans for that day.
