What's in Your Closet?
By Jody Adams, In Its Place
Take advantage of the fall season to prepare for more time indoors and to
get a jump-start on the upcoming holidays.
If you haven't looked in your hall closets for a while, try taking a peek.
Donate clothing, games, and sports equipment your family isn't using. If
something belongs in another room, take it there. Hold gloves, hats, etc. in
labeled containers or baskets where everyone can reach them.
Bonus ' you'll have more room for your holiday guests' coats!
Clean out kitchen cabinets, refrigerator, and freezer to check expiration
dates and take inventory. Put 'like' items with 'like' when returning cans
and boxes to the pantry, and consider labeling shelves so the whole family
can help maintain the organization.
Tip - make a list of ingredients you'll need to get for your favorite
holiday recipes.
Autumn's cooler temperatures provide a perfect opportunity to deal with
those boxes you've stashed in your attic. Switch out seasonal clothing,
donate unused items to charity, and relocate anything fragile that could be
damaged by extreme temperatures.
Benefit ' you'll know EXACTLY where to find the holiday decorations this
year!
If you're determined this is THE winter you're parking your car in the
garage, take action now. Assess the items hogging your parking space - store
those you decide to keep in plastic containers and/or hang on unused wall
space and schedule time to complete unfinished projects.
Payoff ' no more scraping ice off your windshield!
