Have you ever wanted a new
designer outfit without
paying a new designer price?
That is what consignment
shopping is all about.
Twice As Nice Consignment
Boutique located along
Pittsburgh Street near
downtown Greensburg is a
shopper’s dream when it
comes to designer clothing.
Owner Dolores Bailey should
know, she has over 17 years
experience in consignment
shopping and has seen the
trend continue to grow.
“Women of this area are
savvy shoppers and they want
the very best,” said
Dolores. “The smart shoppers
know the value of
consignment clothing.”
What exactly is consignment
shopping? Consignment
shopping starts with women
who own designer pieces of
clothing that are new and
hardly worn, but which they
would like to sell. They
consign the piece to the
boutique and it is placed on
the racks. When the item is
purchased, the profit is
shared between the clothing
owner and the store owner.
So instead of placing orders
with manufacturers,
consignment boutiques
receive their merchandise
from a hundred or so
consignment sellers instead.
The variety is there and the
styles change as often as
they do in the department
stores.
Twice As Nice carries a
variety of top designer
names. Items include all
types of clothing such as
shirts, blouses, pants,
suits, dresses, coats, and
jackets in all sizes and
colors. There are also some
select household items.
In addition, Twice As Nice
carries a variety of
non-consignment pieces,
including new clothing,
jewelry, accessories, and
handbags.

“I
could get great new pieces
in the morning and then by
the afternoon they are
sold,” said Dolores. “It
really goes that fast.
Shoppers have to be in the
right place at the right
time.”
Because fashion is always
one step ahead, retail must
stay in step with the
demand. Fashion moves in
seasonal cycles, and at
Twice As Nice, they always
work to stay a season ahead,
as well as offering special
sale items at the end of
each season.
Twice As Nice is also happy
to cater to an individual
customer’s needs. If a
shopper is looking for
something in particular,
Twice As Nice goes the extra
mile to keep in contact with
that shopper when the item
of their dreams becomes
available.
The fashion industry is
constantly changing.
Designers offer new styles
each season because that is
what the shoppers want.
Often, trends only last a
short while until a new look
comes along. All of this is
part of what makes fashion
so interesting and fun.
For many women, joy comes
with seeing what new looks
are available. One woman may
buy a dozen new pieces for
each season of the year.
Another may purchase only
two or three, while a third
eagerly collects several
dozens of new pieces.
Everyone has their own
individual tastes and
budget. In the end, they all
want the same thing: style.
And that is where
consignment shopping helps
everyone.
Gently worn or never worn
designer clothing is placed
on consignment in a
consignment boutique. The
cost is a fraction of the
original price. This makes
it affordable for the woman
shopping on a limited
budget, or for those who
would like to stretch their
budget to acquire many more
pieces than would otherwise
be affordable.
How can women keep up with
fashion? Because fashion is
constantly changing, the
best way to keep up is to be
constantly in the know. This
can be done by reading
fashion magazines and
watching fashion shows.
Twice As Nice Owner Dolores
Bailey attends several shows
a year and keeps a pulse on
what changes will take place
each season.
“One important tip,” said
Dolores, “is to shop smart
and avoid what is purely
trendy. Trendy goes out of
style too quickly. Remember
that some pieces can be very
versatile. Choose pieces
that will help accessorize
what you already have, but
that will provide you with a
fresh new look.”
