A One Stop Shop for Women
Seeking Resources in
Southwest PA
The Women in Leadership (WIL)
IX class, facilitated by the
Coro Center for Civic
Leadership, has created a
website for women in
southwestern Pennsylvania.
Titled “Where There’s a WIL,
There’s a Way,” the site’s
address is
www.pawomen.org.
This site acts as a “one
stop shop” for women looking
for resources that address a
variety of issues. Women who
log on to the site find a
clearinghouse of
information, listing the
organizations, agencies,
groups, and businesses in
the greater Pittsburgh
region that might be of
assistance to them.
The first website of its
kind regionally, class
members built the site to
provide information to a
wide audience of women in
all different life stages.
The site concentrates on
resources available on the
topics of Wellness,
Workplace, Social Services,
Life Skills, and Networking.
The Coro Center for Civic
Leadership is the newest of
six Coro centers throughout
the U.S.
Coro is a 60-year old
national non-profit
leadership development
organization that seeks to
strengthen communities and
the democratic process by
preparing individuals for
ethical and effective
leadership positions in the
public sector. Coro
facilitates greater
engagement by individuals in
this region through unique
experiential leadership
development training,
research on developing civic
engagement, and connecting
students to internship
opportunities in the region.
Coro is committed to
preparing diverse leaders to
address important issues
facing southwestern
Pennsylvania. Women in
Leadership (WIL) offers the
participant an opportunity
to enhance personal
leadership potential within
a network of people
dedicated to creating
positive change for women in
the region. Women in
Leadership is an eight-week,
part-time, evening training
program designed for
high-achieving women with
demonstrated leadership
experience in the private,
public, or non-profit
sectors.
