“Don’t Bag It”
The Grasscycling Trend

The "Don't Bag It" grasscycling program – leaving clippings on the lawn after mowing – not only reduces the growing problem of limited landfill space, it provides many benefits for you and your lawn. Lawn Doctor of Irwin-Greensburg recommends the natural recycling process of leaving grass clippings on the lawn.

Consistent with the recommendations of the "Don't Bag It" program, our Lawn Doctor Care Program is especially designed to avoid the kind of over-fertilization that causes excessive top growth at the expense of root development. Slow release nitrogen in our fertilizer formulas gives your lawn steady, but not excessive, growth, resulting in a rich, green color.

Reasons to Grasscycle

1. IMPROVED LAWN QUALITY. Decaying grass clippings release valuable nutrients which improve the soil and feed the grass plants. Grasscycling helps you enjoy a greener, healthier lawn.

2. CLIPPINGS DO NOT CAUSE THATCH. Thatch is caused by a build-up of roots. It has been found that returning clippings contributes less than a sixteenth of an inch to the thatch layer each year.

3. GRASSCYCLING IS AN ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE PRACTICE. Turf grasses cool and clean our environment, protect soils and groundwater, absorb noise, and convert carbon dioxide to oxygen, all while providing beautiful and superior areas for recreation. Landscape waste, including grass clippings, accounts for almost 20% of all curbside waste. Grasscycling provides an environmentally important opportunity for you to participate in reducing landfill volume.
