The Extreme Makeover:
Charity Edition held on
Saturday, March 15, 2008,
was a great success!! Thank
you to ALL the wonderful
volunteers that came out to
help! Everyone started
arriving just before 8 am
and some stayed well past
6:00p.m.
“The Bulldog Team” worked
until they ran out of
lumber! Eric Nelson, Jason
Cook, Craig, Sam & Bridget
Williams (who is 3 months
pregnant and swinging
hammers like the best of
them!), Donnie Pannigal, and
others were knocking out the
demo work and framing of the
upstairs which will hold the
veterinarian and grooming
facilities in addition to
the feline wing where the
cats will stay until they
find their forever home.
Lots of progress was also
being made downstairs at the
same time! “The Bloodhound
Team” kept busy dismantling
and demoing the once bar
area of the old Knights of
Columbus building -- the
future site of the pet
boutique and bakery, the
adoption center, and
administration office. 95%
of the old has been removed
and framing for the walls
have begun. Clay Schoaf, Pat
& Cody Tompkins, Chuck King
& Crew, Ed Schroyer and
others; worked hard removing
all old bar, water lines,
and restaurant equipment
from the building so the new
could begin.
The area that will hold the
dogs cages & runs (the
canine wing) was headed up
by “The Doberman Team”. Reed
Nelson, Biff Fendar, Randy &
Gretchen Nelson, Valerie
Wentzel, Linda Hoebler,
Billy Miller & Nicole and
others; had the job of
removing the tile from the
concrete floor, disposing of
old ceiling tiles, cleaning
the walls & drop ceiling
tracks to prepare for primer
& painting. All of the
latter was completed and the
first coat of primer was
applied.
We had other visitors
throughout the day that came
to drop off cookies,
doughnuts, water, and
coffee. Thank you to
everyone that came and
donated.
