Senior Walking Program - This program will take place Friday's, October 10th through October 31st, starting at 8:30a.m., at The Aerobic Center at Lynch Field.  Walk approximately 2 miles (in the event of inclement weather group will meet at Westmoreland Mall Food Court). FREE to SilverSneakers. Non-SilverSneakers $2.00 per walk. Learn correct walking techniques and stretching. Pedometers will be provided to the first 40 SilverSneakers registered.

Pumpkin Patch to benefit Central Westmoreland Habitat for Humanity.  This event will take place from Saturday, October 11th through Friday, October 31st, from 10:00a.m. to 6:00p.m. (Monday - Saturday); 11:00a.m. - 6:00p.m. (Sundays), at Fleatique II (Adamsburg exit off of Route30).  Visit us any day after October 11th during the month to purchase your choice of pumpkin from our large Pumpkin Patch. Westmoreland Cleanways 12th Annual HHW Collection - This event will take place on Saturday, October 11th, from 9:00a.m. - 2:00p.m., at Westmoreland Fairgrounds.  Westmoreland Cleanways’ mission is to maintain the environmental quality of our county. This Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection provides residents the opportunity to properly dispose of toxic and dangerous household products and chemicals. Business Succession Planning Seminar Series: Part II - Part II will take place on Tuesday, October 14th, from 8:00a.m. -9:15a.m., at Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, 100 Sheraton Drive, Greensburg PA.  The Business Succession Planning Seminar Series is hosted by the Westmoreland Chamber of Commerce. The four-part series will assist business owners in developing a Business Succession Plan. The seminars are targeted towards business owners and decision makers and are pertinent for Private or Closely Held Corporations, Partnerships, Joint Ventures and Sole Proprietors.  Part II: Structure of the Agreement. This session will cover topics including pre-drafting consideration, specific provisions of the agreement, and common mistakes in drafting the agreement.  There is no fee to attend, but registration is required. Why do I need a business plan? What should I include in my business plan? What are the three main parts of a business plan? Whether you are planning a business startup or currently are in business and are looking to expand, this informative workshop will show you the importance of a business plan. A business plan is the roadmap to a successful on-going business. Westmoreland Choral Society opens its 38th season with “ Voices of Autumn."  This event will take place on Sunday, October 19th, starting at 7:30p.m., at The Latrobe Presbyterian Church, Main Street, Latrobe PA (Please note this different location!).  The concert will include Ralph Vaughan Williams’ arrangement of “The Old Hundredth Psalm Tune,” Friedrich Moller’s “The Happy Wanderer,” John Rutter’s “All Things Bright and Beautiful,” and Brooke’s “Let The Whole Creation Cry,” with music by Frederick Swann. There will also be several arrangements by Mack Wilberg, Music Director of The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, including “Simple Gifts,” “Come, Ye Thankful People Come,” and “Peace Like a River.”  Tickets are $10.00 in advance and $12.00 at the door. Public is invited to Local Toastmasters International Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contests - This event will take place on Saturday, November 1st, registration and socializing will begin at 3:30p.m.  The event is open to the public and media. Each year, Toastmasters members conduct friendly competition in different presentation styles. Participants in the Humorous Speech Contest will deliver a highly-original presentation on a topic of their choosing while incorporating entertaining, enjoyable, and humorous material that is well-suited to most audiences. The presentations range from five to seven minutes in length. There is a $5.00 admission.

4th Annual Holiday Fashion Fantasy - Westmoreland Cultural Trust Announces Fall Fundraiser.  This Fashion Fantasy will take place on Thursday, November 6th, starting at 5:30p.m., at The Greensburg Garden and Civic Center, 951 Old Salem Road, Greensburg PA.  Guests will be welcomed to a “Winter Wonderland” with a champagne greeting when festivities begin at 5:30p.m.  All can enjoy a unique variety of delectable hors d’oeuvres and informal modeling. WTAE personality Jennifer Miele will once again host and narrate the main stage modeling. Men’s, women’s and children’s clothing from casual to formal wear, including faux furs, will be modeled. Then it’s back to the Laurel and Iris room for coffee, pastries and retailers offering a more personal holiday shopping experience.  Money raised at this event will be used for general operations of the Trust and to support the programs and operations at The Palace Theatre, Greensburg Area Cultural Council, Greensburg Garden and Civic Center, the Train Station at Greensburg, Union Trust Building, Lamp Theatre and the Stark / James Building.   Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door. Used Book Sale - This sale will take place on Friday, November 7th (11:00a.m. to 4:00p.m.) and Saturday, November 8th (9:00a.m. to 4:00p.m.), at Laird Hall across from First Presbyterian Church, 3202 North Hills Road, Murrysville, PA.  This is the 36th year that the Murrysville Branch of AAUW (American Association of University Women) has sponsored this annual event. Approximately 20,000 books are sorted into 34 non-fiction categories and 8 fiction categories for adults. A large selection of Children's Books will also be available. Most books are sold at $1.00 per stacked inch with best sellers and specials individually priced. The profits from this sale benefit local libraries and local social service organizations with a small percentage going to the National Educational Foundation.

PowerLunch EAST Women's Networking Lunch - This lunch will take place on Friday, November 7th, from 1:30p.m. - 3:00p.m., at Holiday Inn, 2750 Mosside Blvd, Monroeville PA.  The PowerLunch EAST is a FREE networking event where businesswomen come together on the 1st Friday of each month at 1:30p.m. for a relaxing lunch and an opportunity to network and increase business or contacts in the Eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh and Westmoreland County.  The restaurant venue changes each month with one month being in the Monroeville / Murrysville area, the next being in the Greensburg-North  Huntingdon area.
