Our infants have no set schedule, but enjoy circle time, being read to throughout the day, continual conversations and soft music in the security of the infant room.  Special texture books allowing tactile interaction are available for our youngest children.

All children enjoy daily fun in the sun or shade with our fully fenced play area.  There is a covered play area/pavilion with picnic tables to enjoy a snack or lunch as well as playing with friends.  There is also a separate cement area for bike riding.  Appropriate swings and other play equipment available for all ages.  There is a large area to play games and develop large motor skills, especially for the older children, including a sprinkler in the summer.  A water table and sand table are also available for all the children to engage.  Bovard Playground is in the area and available to appropriate age groups with staff involved in each activity.

Licensing, Certification, and Parent Involvement

Care Bear Day Care is a State licensed facility. The PA Department of Public Works (DPW) regulates both our day care activities and building requirements. Our license is renewed annually, and the facility is inspected once per year at minimum.    

Care Bear Day Care is committed to maintaining the quality of the Early Learning Standards of the Keystone Stars rating system. This helps ensure the best possible development for the children, and compliance with the PA Standards.  We have received a STAR 2 recognition and will continue to strive to maintain the best practices available.

Keystone Stars standards include:

• Nutrition standards with healthy snacks.
• Health and safety, including health related policies and procedures.
• Prepared lesson plans.
• Annual observations and evaluations on each child.
• Parent-Teacher conferences.
• Required classes for each staff.
• Parental involvement.*

*Care Bear Day Care provides parents with a Parent Handbook, available to anyone coming for our Parent Tour. Our handbook contains information about community resources, an application for services, and explains all aspects of our programs and operation.    

We provide a monthly newsletter, involve parents in the decision making at our facility, and keep parents informed regarding community resources available for their children including speech, occupation, physical and behavioral therapy available through the Intermediate Unit. 

Service Area / Days Closed

Care Bear Day Care is only minutes from Westmorland Mall and the WOW Outlets. We are located in Bovard and serve Greensburg Area, Hempfield Township, and other local communities. If you are looking for day care in Greensburg area, Care Bear Day care is an excellent choice.  It is also a designated Bus Stop for Bovard Elementary (Hempfield Area School District) where school age children may get on and off the bus right from the day care.

We do not close for bad weather or for one or two weeks around the Christmas Holidays.  We are here to care for your children at your convenience all year, except for these major holidays:  Closed New Years Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving, as well as Christmas Day and the day after Christmas.  We close early on Christmas Eve, at 3:00 pm.

Directions

From Route 30 East, turn Left at the Westmoreland Mall red light and then Right onto Donohoe Road. Shortly past the WOW Outlet, turn Left onto Crows Nest Road (between the Cemetery and the Gas Company).  Go through the tunnel and bare right at the Y.  Day Care is located on the right.  We are also accessible from Route 119.
