have heard the news, one of the largest sources for high quality, commercial
embroidery in Westmoreland County is the Embroidery Department of the
Westmoreland County Blind Association. Offering name brand lines of clothing in
great variety, the Blind Association's assortment includes: company uniforms,
business gifts, promotional items, hotel, motel, and restaurant uniforms, as
well as everything from tote bags to towels and blankets. There are thousands of
designs and all items can be personalized with individual names.
"We've sewn over a half million flight deck jerseys and countless
neckerchiefs for the Navy," said Sue Henderson of the Blind Association. "Our
customers range from military and US Government contracts to work for major
corporations like Nike and Sony. It's not new; we've been at this for over 25
years now." The imprinting department is staffed by trained professionals and
provides jobs for the visually-impaired. Though proud of aiding such a worthy
cause, the customers of this service return again and again for the high
quality, quick turn around time, and great selection the Blind Association
strives diligently to maintain. "We can print on anything from golf balls to
work vests," Sue continued." Their high-end, multi-head equipment embroiders up
to 30 identical items at one time.
The proceeds of the business fund services for blind and legally
blind individuals in our area. The Westmoreland County Blind Association has
been serving the needs of the blind since 1948. With over 500 blind or legally
blind individuals in Westmoreland County, the services and programs of the Blind
