Have you wondered what it would be like to walk into the kitchen or bath or
your dreams? You might have a drawer for your mixer, a lazy Susan in the
corner for your canned goods, and a drawer specifically designed just for
your spices next to the oven. The countertops in your dream kitchen are of
high quality granite showing no knife marks or stains. The cabinet doors
are not peeling or bubbled. You can work efficiently because you kitchen is
designed to keep you efficient.
How can you make this dream come true? All you need to do is visit Three
"K" Cabinets in Latrobe along Route 982.
If you are going to remodel your kitchen or bathroom, you owe it to
yourself to see the experts at Three "K" Cabinets. Owner John Kuhns opened
this well-known local business in 1976 and believes he has been blessed to
see his business grow and thrive. Only respectable and high quality work
can gain the reputation Three "K" Cabinets enjoys.
"I come to a place I love every day. I can't imagine going to work and
not loving what I do," said Kuhns.
It is because of his love for his work and his years of experience that
Kuhns can continue to amaze his customers with his design and layout of
kitchens and baths. Not to mention that he keeps up to date on all the
latest trends, gadgets, and supplies by going to trade shows and conferences
throughout the year. You will not have a newly designed kitchen or bath and
find something about it outdated before you have your first dinner party.
This level of commitment is why people keep going to Three "K" Cabinets for
their remodeling needs.
Three "K" Cabinets' Showroom
The process for the customer begins by visiting Three "K" Cabinets'
showroom. At this visit customers can share their ideas and hopes for a
"new" design.
The showroom has seven kitchen and five bathrooms on display to
help customers see various options. Most people only redesign their kitchen
or bath once, so Three "K" Cabinets wants to make sure it is done right. In
addition to the custom design cabinetry that Three "K" Cabinets makes at
their own shop, Kuhns also carries four other lines. Woodwork and cabinetry
is made only out of the finest cherry, maple, hickory, and oak.
The showroom features solid wood doors, drawer fronts and face frames,
dovetailed drawers, veneer plywood sides, granite and Corian countertops,
3/4" adjustable shelves, plus numerous convenience items to make your new
kitchen a pleasure to work in.
After the initial visit, Three "K" Cabinets will go to the customer's
house to take measurements and see the space in person. Finally, an
estimate is given to the customer. This estimate is different from an
estimate from a large discount lumber company. The estimate includes
everything to complete the job such as removing old cabinets, wallpaper,
attaching towel bars, etc. Often times, estimates from national chains may
be incomplete, or not make allowance for enough supplies.
"There are no horror stories with Three "K" Cabinets. What we plan out
and tell the customer is what we actually do. There are no surprises and
each job is done in a timely manner," said Kuhns.
No Outsourcing to Unreliable Subcontractors
Three "K" Cabinets does all of the work including delivery, installation,
electrical, plumbing, flooring, plastering, and remodeling. There are two
crews on staff that work on every job. Nothing is outsourced or completed
by someone Kuhns does not know. His crew is reliable and dependable. As a
result, each job is completed in the order as they are received and the crew
does not leave an assignment until the work is fully complete. Most, if not
all, projects are completed within two months. Customers do not have to
worry about their home being disrupted for an extended period of time.
The phrase, "Actions speak louder than words" is how Three "K" Cabinets
has had such success over the years. Its fine custom kitchens and the work
of the crews have given them such a great reputation that the Tribune Review
newspaper has listed them as the #1 cabinet carpentry in Westmoreland County
for the last four years in a row.
Three "K" Cabinets typical service area is within a 15-mile radius
of Latrobe. However, because of the reputation it has, it is not uncommon
for Three "K" Cabinets to accept work in farther distances, even out of
state!
The History of Three "K" Cabinets
This successful business all started
when Kuhns was just 19 years old. He was a cabinetmaker and decided to make
an attempt at starting his own business. He learned cabinet making while in
high school at Derry Area High. He was enrolled in the vo-tech program
and learned the fundamentals of cabinet making. It was these skills that
guided him into this particular career path. Now, 35 years later he is a
certified kitchen designer as designated by the National Kitchen and Bath
Association. He knowledge of design, layout, and installation is what every
person redesigning their kitchen and bath would want.
Kuhn said it is remarkable how much the showroom has evolved over
the years. It first began just as a one-story structure located behind his
childhood home. In fact, that is where he came up with the name Three
"K"
Cabinets. His last name is Kuhns and it began with his mother, his brother
and himself - thus Three "K"Cabinets. Once business started to grow, the
structure expanded and eventually a second level was added to showcase the
12 displays. One thing that is true, John Kuhns is loyal to his customers
and to the area in which he serves.
