A Philosophy of Education at New Horizons
New Horizons offers a high level of education and daycare
by providing an excellent teacher to child ratio. They have
over 23 years of experience with children and families. The
staff works to make New Horizons a child's home away from
home.
The daycare program is structured and controlled. Since
children learn best through play, age appropriate rooms are
very print rich and colorful, welcoming creativity and
pretend play. The daycare program begins with infancy and
goes through school age. For convenience, there are before
and after school programs with a bus stop to local schools.
Daycare can be part time, full-time, or summers only. Summer
care is theme-based with field trips. There is on-site
swimming with licensed lifeguards.
Academic-based preschool programs are divided by age.
Preschool programs are held for two year-olds (first of its
kind) three year olds, four year-olds, and five year- olds
(step up to kindergarten, which is structured to meet the
needs of the young five year old or the child who is missing
the cutoff to kindergarten).
All classes look at a child as an individual and are taught
with this in mind. Classes are divided by age; teachers are
state certified; and, the schools provide an excellent
teacher to child ratio.
New Horizons all day kindergarten has a great academic
reputation with its small class size. They use the Houghton
Mifflin reading series and AGS math series. Children go on
field trips and special guest speakers make appearances.
Swim lessons are available and provided weekly by a licensed
lifeguard. There is a pediatric RN on staff.
