Record Your Family Memories
Tired of looking at dust-covered old photos, piles of
paper, or seemingly meaningless mementos? Why not get them
out and bring them to life in a way that involves everyone
in your family . . .
Go through photo albums, scrapbooks, and memorabilia with
older members of your family who may be able to identify
people, places, and events in the pictures. Then record the
information with an archival quality pencil.
Video- and/or tape-record family members as they share
stories of childhood memories, traditions, special events,
and family history.
Ever wonder where that antique Singer sewing machine or
those wooden skis in your attic came from? Why not ask your
great Aunt Mary or Grandpa Jim to tell you where the items
came from, who used them, and when.
At the end of every school year, have a fun session with
your children to go through their papers and artwork. Give
each child a special container to hold the papers they
decide to keep.
Dont let stories of your family history go untold. Your
relatives can provide you with a link to the past, and maybe
even help you live better today!
