The Mini Facelift
Nearly every middle age woman recognizes the signs of
facial aging in themselves: skin laxity, jowl formation,
deepened smile lines and loss of the jaw line or neck line.
Recently there has been a tremendous demand for plastic
surgery in this younger population, compared to previous
years. As a result, several facial tightening
procedures emerged on the market to meet the demand.
Many of these procedures have been advertised as one hour
'lunchtime' treatments performed in the office and requiring
no more than a day or two of recovery time. They
certainly cost less than traditional face lifts.
Initially, these procedures seemed to be the answer for
women not yet in need of a full face lift but requiring more
than mere injection treatments, like Botox or Restylane.
Shortly after their emergence on the cosmetic scene, it
became clear that the greatest problem with these procedures
was lack of longevity of results. Severe relapses of
skin laxity with widened scars in front of the ears could
all happen within one year of the procedure and were common
complaints. Another complaint was that of a price tag:
over $5,000 for a procedure with short-lived results.
It also became evident that the vast majority of physicians
performing these gimmicky procedures were not qualified
Plastic Surgeons, Board Certified by the American Board of
Plastic Surgery.
In response, to meet the need for safe and effective
procedures, several new mini-facelift techniques have been
developed and perfected by Board Certified Plastic Surgeons
that are less invasive than traditional full face lifts.
These true mini-facelifts can be performed in approximately
2 hours and require about one week of recovery time.
They utilize many of the same techniques used in full
facelifts in order to have lasting results. These
lifts involve shorter scars and have less discomfort and
faster recovery than full facelifts.
True mini facelifts are designed to treat those patients
with moderate facial skin laxity and often can take at least
10 years of age off of your appearance. A large
proportion of the women that present to a Plastic Surgeon
today, requesting a facelift, are candidates for a
mini-facelift.
The mini-facelift is a variation on the traditional full
facelift and has emerged as one of the leading options for
facial rejuvenation. Compared to a full facelift, the
mini facelift requires less recovery time and is less
expense, while still providing lasting, natural results,
results that are not possible with the unsatisfactory,
gimmicky 'lunchtime' lifts.
It is no surprise that the mini-face lift preformed by Board
Certified Plastic Surgeons is becoming increasingly popular
among the middle age population.
