Norwin Superintendent Awarded State Honor
John C. Boylan, superintendent of schools for the Norwin
School District has been named Superintendent of the Year by
the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association. PMEA is a
statewide association of music teachers representing the
hundreds of public and private schools and music studios
throughout Pennsylvania.
Annually, PMEA honors only one superintendent. Criteria for
selecting the awardee include financial support, scheduling,
and an overall philosophy that includes commitment to a well
rounded music program as an integral part of the overall
curriculum. Boylan was nominated by members of the Norwin
music department.
Norwin Music Department Chair Cheryl Walter feels that
this award is well deserved saying 'Dr. Boylan supports
music educationally and artistically attending most concerts
and events throughout the year. He really makes us feel
like the work we're doing is appreciated and valued by the
Norwin School District.' To commemorate this statewide
recognition, the Norwin Music Department is having a
celebration concert honoring Boylan on June 1 at 6:00 PM at
the Norwin Stadium. The event is open to the public.
