Greensburg Doctor of Chiropractic Makes History with
Leadership
The unanimous vote was historic. Patrick PJ Kelly,
Doctor of Chiropractic from Greensburg Pennsylvania, was
recently recognized as the president they need to
keep'making him the longest serving president in the history
of the Pennsylvania Chiropractic Association (PCA), which
dates back to 1949. Kelly, who has served as president of
PCA for the past year and a half, was unanimously elected to
serve one more year at the helm. Having served out an
unexpired term of a previous president allows Kelly to
extend his term past the two-year limit.
As if the unanimous vote to keep Kelly as president wasn't
enough, Dr. Kelly's peers also named him 'Doctor of
Chiropractic of the Year.' This is the highest award
bestowed upon a member of the PCA, a group that represents
1500 Doctors of Chiropractic across the state of PA. The
award was announced at the group's annual meeting which was
held in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Kelly's list of positions and accomplishments within
PCA, as well as on national boards, is long and impressive.
During Kelly's time as Chairman of the Membership Committee
of the PCA, the organization saw membership increase by
10%. In addition to serving as membership chairperson, Dr.
Kelly has served for almost a decade on the PCA Legislative
Committee, appearing before numerous state departments,
testifying on behalf of the Chiropractic profession.
When asked about his extensive commitment to PCA, Dr. Kelly
said the following, 'Regardless of your profession, it's
your trade association that protects your interests as a
professional. In the work with PCA, I get to make changes
and see changes that affect every chiropractor in the
state. We meet with every insurance company and work hard
on the legislative front to make sure our doctors of
chiropractic succeed.'
Dr. Kelly's has maintained his private practice in
Greensburg since 1998. His commitment to chiropractic began
with personal experience as a child of ten. The young Kelly
was relieved of persistent and severe headaches through the
chiropractic work of Dr. Larry Wilkins, after traditional
medicine failed to provide relief.
Kelly, who graduated from the Palmer College of Chiropractic
West, was first licensed to practice in California. He
returned to the Pittsburgh area to study under Dr. Wilkins,
eager to master the techniques that had provided so much
relief for him. On this visit, Kelly saw the landscape of
his childhood in fresh ways. He set up a practice in the
area and has never left.
Recently Dr. Kelly successfully testified before the
Department of Health to lobby for changes that would grant
privileges to Doctors of Chiropractic in a hospital setting
and before UPMC one of the Western Regions largest Managed
Care Organizations to ensure his profession and their many
patients were receiving the best in health care benefits.
Gene Veno, Executive Director of PCA, says of Doctor Kelly,
'He is a leader of his profession and a 'person who gets
things done!'
