Duckling)
This Event will take place from September 10th

Ligonier Valley Writers to Hold Picnic and
Storytelling Workshop
This Workshop will take place on Sunday,

Valley Church in Rector (St. Michael's is located at 2535 Route 381

Head for the Woods and Learn
This Walk will take place on Saturday,
September 18th, from 8:00a.m. - 4:30p.m., the walk will take place
at Burnham woodlot in East Finley, Pennsylvania (30 minutes south of
Washington, PA). The Southwest Pennsylvania Woodland Owners
and the Pennsylvania Tree Farm System are hosting an all day walk in
the woods with advice from experts. The day will be jam packed
with talks and demonstrations on such topics as crop tree
management, small scale milling and drying of lumber, blight
resistant chestnut trees, and habitat development and switchgrass.
Among the presenters are professional foresters Arlyn Perkey, Tom
Fitzgerald, Bob McBride, and Jim Elze; Gary Micsky of Penn State
Extension; and Jose Taracido of the farm and habitat program at
California University. John Burnham, the host of the event, is a
past president of SWPWO and has been nominated PA Tree Farmer of the

Latrobe PA. This workshop provides the necessary information
to anyone interested in doing business with the government. Topics
will include: locating state contracting opportunities, how the
state purchases goods and services, using state contracting to grow
a small business, and state programs to help small businesses make
use of contracting and subcontracting opportunities. The workshop
will also cover certification of minority-owned and women-owned
businesses. The owners of such businesses are especially urged to
attend. The presenter will be from the PA Department of General

Top 6 Prospecting Mistakes
This Program will take place on Wednesday,
November 10th, from 9:00a.m. - 12:00p.m., at Saint Vincent College,

or service, but are not sure how to sell it. Those who do not
consider themselves to be in sales, and those who may not have a
sales background, but still have to sell themselves, their ideas,
their recommendations, and their services, to their customers, are
especially urged to attend. Presenter, Jim Gaffney, Managing Partner
of Peak Performance Management in Pittsburgh, will illustrate how
beliefs, behaviors, and tactics are directly linked to how well a
person sells, and ultimately how successful a business will be. His
interactive and entertaining workshop will demonstrate ways for
