1983, the Westmoreland County Board of Commissioners established a
non-profit corporation known as the Westmoreland County
Industrial Development Corporation (WCIDC) to promote economic
development in the county.
Formed in 2000, the
Economic Growth Connection works in cooperation with governmental
agencies, chambers of commerce and financial institutions to support
emerging and expanding companies in Westmoreland County.
The Saint Vincent College Small Business Development
Center was established in 1984. The mission of the SBDC is to provide
professional business development services to start-up and existing
businesses in Westmoreland and Fayette Counties.
The mission of the Westmoreland-Fayette
Workforce Investment Board is to lead workforce development activities
in the areas communities in order to help individuals attain the skills
necessary for viable employment and to help employers become competitive in
the global economy. The WIB also works to affect changes in government
regulations to allow federal funding to be channeled to the areas of
greatest need.

WCIDC - Westmoreland County
Industrial Development Corporation
The Westmoreland County Industrial Development Corporation
has and continues to develop a number of world-class
industrial parks around the county, maintaining
Westmoreland's economic development. The latest is a two
hundred acre site near Westmoreland County's Sony plant,
along with others in the New Stanton area.
The county is also developing a business and office park
that will offer high-end office space. In addition, there
are revitalization projects planned for Jeannette, New
Kensington, Arnold, and the Monessen riverfront.
Westmoreland County's economic development efforts include:

Township. Developed acreage: 86.
- Westmoreland Technology Park. Route 19, Hempfield. Developed
acreage: 75; undeveloped: 127.
Westmoreland County Industrial Park III. Mellon Road,
Export. Acreage: 137.
- Westmoreland County Industrial Park IV. Colonial Manor Road, North
Huntingdon. Developed acreage: 44; undeveloped: 30.
- Westmoreland Business and Research Park. Hunt Valley Drive, Upper
Burrell. Acreage: 447.
- Interstate 70 Industrial Park. Fitz Henry Road/Glacier Drive, South
Huntingdon. Acreage: 600.
- Westmoreland Distribution Park. Central Road, East Huntingdon.
Acreage: 154.
- Westmoreland County Airpark. Route 981, Unity Township. Developed
acreage: 157; undeveloped acreage: 53.
- Monessen riverfront Industrial Park. Route 906, Monessen. Acreage:

EGC - Economic Growth Connection
Formed in 2000, the
Economic Growth Connection works in cooperation with governmental
agencies, chambers of commerce and financial institutions to support
emerging and expanding companies in Westmoreland County.
The basic mission of this non-profit development corporation is to retain
and create jobs with emphasis on increasing wealth in the region with new
and quality jobs. Quality jobs are those measured by level of pay and
sustainability of job.
The Economic Growth Connection plans to obtain these goals through
Business Outreach, Loan Packaging, Workforce Development and Training,
Support Development and Infrastructure Improvements, Support E-Commerce
Initiatives, Organizational Development, and other new initiatives.

SBDC - Small Business Development Center
The Saint Vincent College Small
Business Development Center provides consulting services and educational
programs to entrepreneurs looking to start or grow a business in
Westmoreland and Fayette Counties.
From helping new business owners turn ideas into businesses, to helping
small firms grow, to providing the information every business owner needs to
make smart business decisions, the SBDC is a resource entrepreneurs in all
industries.
The SBDC was established in 1984. The mission of the SBDC is to provide
professional business development services to start-up and existing
businesses in Westmoreland and Fayette Counties.

The mission of the
Westmoreland-Fayette Workforce Investment Board is to lead workforce

WIB works to attract new businesses to our region as well as encouraging
existing business to stay in Westmoreland and Fayette Counties by assuring

Smart Growth
Smart Growth Partnership
of Westmoreland County is about smart growth! It's a community-based
non-profit organization housed at the University of Pittsburgh at
Greensburg.
Smart Growth believes that the land we use today is being borrowed from
our children and our children's children. Smart Growth is guided by the
principle that communities need to make good long-term decisions about
where, when and how they should grow. This organization seeks to encourage
growth that improves the quality of life for our current residents and
businesses, but will also insure vibrant, high quality growth for future
generations in Westmoreland County.

Formerly known as National Center of Education for Women in Business,
E-magnify assists and educates women
entrepreneurs through many programs, newsletters, webinars and more. The
Athena PowerLink program supports business growth by creating advisory
panels to help women-owned businesses in Fayette, Greene, Washington, and
Westmoreland counties grow and thrive.
