Westmoreland County Parks
in Westmoreland County PA
One of the advantages of living in Westmoreland County is
the pleasure of visiting its many fine parks and recreation
areas. The Westmoreland County Bureau of Parks & Recreation
maintains four major parks, four additional park and
recreation areas, and two trails. There is even an historic
site where visitors can step back into Revolutionary times.
Throughout the year, organized events such as Fishing
Derbies, Concerts, Antiques & Collectible Sales, Family and
Super Fun Days, and Hobgoblin Hikes bring a true sense of
community to Westmoreland parks. In July each year, the
Westmoreland County Arts and Heritage Festival alone draws
from 70,000 to 100,000 attendees.
As lifelong residents of Westmoreland County, the owners of
InWestmoreland have seen the County maintain a continued
investment in improving the parks system, and we never miss
a chance to enjoy the outdoors at one of Westmoreland
Countys exceptional recreational areas. Over 2,700 acres of
land around the county have been set aside for your
enjoyment!
Westmoreland County Bureau of Parks and Recreation, with
the help of its Citizens Advisory Board, is preparing for
the future by developing a master plan for the future
expansion of Twin Lakes County Park along Georges Station
Road, just east of Greensburg.
Plans call for the future park to be a complementary
mixture of active and passive recreation. The park will
highlight a
street style skate park for skateboarders, rollerbladers
and BMX bikers. Designed as a park plaza, this area will be
fully accessible to tricks, grids and skating to provide the
look and feel of urban street skating.
On these pages we share our enthusiasm and provide you with
the information and links you need to make your experience
in Westmoreland Countys parks one you will look forward to
repeating again and again.
