Directions
From Route 30, take the Greensburg/Mount Pleasant exit
toward Mount Pleasant. Continue past the University of
Pittsburgh and the Westmoreland County Fair Grounds. Turn
left in United. At the stop sign one mile past the Mammoth
Park sign, turn right onto Route 981 South. Turn left at
the next Mammoth Park sign. Go 2 miles to the next stop
sign, turn left, and continue on into the park.
Overview
For the fishing enthusiast, Mammoth Park features a 24
acre fresh water lake stocked with trout by the Pennsylvania
Fish Commission. Fishing decks are available, some of which
are handicapped accessible. Mammoth Lake even provides for
ice fishing in winter.
Perhaps the most notable feature of Mammoth Park is its
96 foot high giant slide, which has made for many an
unforgettable summer outing for Westmoreland County
youngsters. There is a scenic overlook deck, featuring a ten
mile panoramic view of the countryside. Mammoth Park offers
14 pavilions and many recreational and picnic opportunities.
Facilities
Mammoth Park features play areas including a basketball
court, two tennis courts, a street hockey court, two bocce
courts, two shuffleboard courts, and horseshoe pits. There
are even toboggan and sledding areas. Recreational equipment
such as bocce balls, horseshoes, and volleyballs are
available for rental at the Park Office.
Two softball/baseball fields and a soccer field are
available by application for league, tournament, or pickup
play.
The Westmoreland Board Riders Alliance operates the Mammoth
Park Mountain Board Course in Mammoth Park. You can find our

14 pavilions are located throughout the park, and can
accommodate groups of up to 200. Mammoth Parks World War II
Veterans Memorial can be accessed from the parking area for
Pavilion # 2.
The Laurel Highlands R.C. Airplane Club operates the Mammoth
Park Model Radio Controlled Airfield. You can visit their

An historic battery of beehive coke ovens has been
restored and is available for viewing.
Portions of Mammoth Park are open for hunting, and the
lakefront is periodically closed during the fall to allow
for waterfowl hunting.
Ice skating is possible when Mammoth Lake is frozen in
winter.
Rest room facilities are available throughout the park.
Events
Events at Mammoth Park include Super Fun Day, the
Westmoreland County Senior Games, and a Fishing Derby. See
