Overview
Twin Lakes Park is our favorite among the parks, and is,
in our opinion, the jewel of the Westmoreland County parks
system. This is no easy feat considering the natural beauty
and great facilities available at her sister parks. Twin
Lakes Park has received national recognition for its
programs and barrier free facilities.
Paved walkways encircle both the lower and an upper lake
over a distance of 2.5 miles, providing one of the most
pleasant walking and exercise paths in Westmoreland County,
and one that is handicapped accessible. Waterfowl can be
seen at almost any time of year.
Fishing enthusiasts visit Twin Lakes Park year round, and
there are even handicapped accessible fishing decks. The PA
Fish Commission stocks both lakes with game fish, including
a winter stocking that attracts ice fishing enthusiasts to
the frozen lakes in the dead of winter. Live bait is
available year round at the Boathouse.
Twin Lakes Park is most famous as the host location for the
Westmoreland County Arts & Heritage Festival, a tremendously
popular arts and crafts extravaganza held each year for
several days around the July 4th holiday. The
Westmoreland County
Arts & Heritage Festival has been named one of the top
100 events in North America, and there is no more
appropriate place to enjoy this extraordinary festival than
at beautiful Twin Lakes Park.
Facilities
Twin Lakes Boathouse, located along the lower lake,
provides rental of pedal boats, rowboats, and canoes. Food
and drink concessions are also available.
Twin Lakes Park Activities Center is available for year
round rental. Accommodating groups of up to 100, the
building is headed, but not air conditioned. Activity Center
facilities include a small kitchen, indoor restrooms, and a
reception / meeting room.
Peach Plaza skate park is free to the public from 9am
until dusk. The skate park features quarters with bowl
corners, three sets of stairs with two handrails and more.
Skaters welcome!
Seven pavilions are located throughout the park, with
accommodations for groups of up to 200.
The Vietnam Veterans of Westmoreland County Memorial is
located on the Upper Lake near pavilion # 2.
Cross-country skiing is available after winter snows,
with ski rentals made at the Twin Lakes Park Boathouse.
Portions of the park are open for hunting.
Rest room facilities are available throughout the park.

Events at Twin Lakes Park include a free Sunday concert
series every summer on the Lower Lakes Island Stage, a

Heritage Fesitval. See the Westmoreland County Bureau
