July Program

Our July 23, 2010 program will be presented by Ayana A. Ledford, Executive Director, of PROGRESS (Program Research and Outreach on Gender Equity in Society) which teaches women and girls the value of negotiation. Her presentation is entitled “Dollars & Sense: The Value of Asking for What You’re Worth!”   And, once again we are asking you to bring personal care items to the April meeting in support of the Welcome Home Shelter. Suggested items are: shampoo, soap, deodorant, disposable razors, mouthwash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hand lotion, etc.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to our member, Meagan Bilik-DeFazio, the recipient of the 2010 Winners’ Circle Award for Community Service.  The luncheon was held in May.

WCCWF Signature Projects

As you know we are supporting two signature projects in the 2010/2011 year.  The first is the Welcome Home Shelter.  We continue to collect personal care items at our meetings as well as donate funds raised by our 50/50 drawings.    The second of our projects is a scholarship to one of our members attending the Leadership Westmoreland training.   Learn more about this opportunity at our July 23 meeting.

WCCWF July 2010 Newsletter Chairperson’s Message

It is hard to believe we are already into summer since we last met.   Thanks to all who attended our April meeting.  Rebecca Harris, Director of the Center for Women’s Entrepreneurship at Chatham University spoke about women entrepreneurs which was quite interesting.

Our July 23, 2010 meeting will feature Ayana A. Ledford, Executive Director, of PROGRESS (Program Research and Outreach on Gender Equity in Society) which teaches women and girls the value of negotiation. Her presentation is entitled “Dollars & Sense: The Value of Asking for What You’re Worth!”  Please make your reservations for the July meeting by July 16th either by sending in your payment with the reservation form in this newsletter or emailing WCCWF Secretary, Carol Adams, at cardoninc@comcast.net.  Please consider asking a friend or co-worker to attend this meeting with you.

The 7th Annual PA Governor’s Conference for Women will be held in Pittsburgh this year on Thursday, October 14, 2010.  We will have more information about the conference at the July meeting. Our WCCWF is a Sponsoring Organization for this year’s conference.   We have two tables reserved under our WCCWF for the conference and only four seats remain.  If anyone is interested, please send your check for $125.00 made payable to WCCWF to Carol Adams.

Don’t forget to bring personal care items to the July meeting for the Welcome Home Shelter, which is one of our Signature Projects for 2010-2011.  Also, we will have information on the scholarship we hope to award for the Leadership Westmoreland Class which should begin in September, 2010.

Please remember we encourage your organization to let us know what you are doing and we are more than glad to spread your events or news to our membership.  All you need to do is to email Carol Adams and she will send out an email blast with your information to our members. This is a wonderful way to keep others informed about your organization.  I want to thank Carol Adams for the fantastic job she continues to do in getting these emails out for everyone.

See you on July 23!!!   Stay safe until then.
